This is the Moon and Jupiter (according to Google Sky Map) tonight in the southern hemisphere sky.

Just felt like sharing.

Wish my camera was better so it'd be sharper!

Yeah I saw this tonight as well, totally cool.

Awesome, thanks! It's not dark yet Downunder, showers at the moment, hopefully it clears up. Do you know if Jupiter will move far over the next nights?

Thanks for the pic! I saw it in person tonight and it was pretty sweet :)

Just went out and had a look. Pretty neat!

Thanks for the info ! I commented to my wife and Mom last night that the moon looked like it had a moon.

It's called a conjunction, when two bodies in the Solar System are close to each other. I saw it last night, it certainly was a sight to behold!

makes me think of that photoshopped picture of 3 planets aligning over the pyramids.

giacomini 11-29-2012 07:35 AM

Nice, I didn't know if it could be seen in the north hemisphere too, but it did!

According to one of those astronomy sites (can't remember which) jupiter will be close to the moon again on dec 25th

Pretty neat - I wondered what "star" that was that was so close by. Thanks for sharing!
