More Ebay paranoia

I haven't much trust in anyone online these days, and rightly so... so I shall reach out once more and ask ya'll for guidance.

I'm buying a car part. They asked for my car's VIN # to insure the part is correct. Hmmm... I never in my life had to give a VIN # for a car part, but I'm not quite sure what evil anyone could do with that info anyhow. Do I send it to them, or not. Their feedback is pretty much impeccable. Thanks.

Send it, it's no problem. A lot of salvage yards ask for VINs, especially if it's online. They're just confirming the part will fit your particular vehicle.

Sellers want to avoid having their customers get angry at them and leave negative feedback when the part they bought won't fit their vehicle. They can use the vin# to check for compatibility and if it won;t fit, they'll tell you so and steer you toward the item that does fit (which they're also selling).

Thanks guys. Mods, you can delete this thread if you like. My question was simple, unbassrelated, and now answered.
