More evidence that drugs and basses don't mix well...

Let's not start eyeing our instruments while under the influence, OK?

The evidence.

That is crazy cool! You got to have some serious wood working skills to pull something like that off.

For the first time,I don't agree with an OP on a destroyed bass issue.I like it,nice carvings.

I don't get why he carved the back of it so much though, its not like any one's gonna see it playing and the loss of mass?
Still cool though.

Actually, I agree that there is a much higher degree of artistic merit to this "modification" than to most. No real argument here, machine gewehr.

However, the person who carved this up has definitely reduced his potential sales market to a very small group. I still wonder what mind-altering experience might have provided the inspiration!

Does it actually say something on it, or is the script just faux caligraphy..?

It's kinda cool. If I had 99 bucks I was going to throw in the street, I might buy it.

I didn't think it was possible to be simultaneously repelled and attracted to something. BUT.....that bass body has got me going in every direction. I wonder if there is a word for that in some other language?

Then the practical side of me takes over and says - where does the strap button go? I can't make the poor lizard eat it.

There is no indication to me that the artist was necessarily under the influence of anything - though the argument could be made that no sober person would do that, I have artsy friends... and many of them are out of their minds, drug users or not. In fact I could show you some really great murals by the same person, some done sober, under the influence of marijuana, MDMA, etc. The differences are much more subtle than you might think. Though I will say that hallucinogens (LSD, psilocin, mescaline etc.) will give one very interesting/patterned ideas, but this carving doesn't show it in any obvious way. Absolutely anything is possible, but I would lean towards this simply being what a very eclectic person thought was a good idea.
