However, the person who carved this up has definitely reduced his potential sales market to a very small group. I still wonder what mind-altering experience might have provided the inspiration!

I still wonder what mind-altering experience might have provided the inspiration! | There is no indication to me that the artist was necessarily under the influence of anything - though the argument could be made that no sober person would do that, I have artsy friends... and many of them are out of their minds, drug users or not. In fact I could show you some really great murals by the same person, some done sober, under the influence of marijuana, MDMA, etc. The differences are much more subtle than you might think. Though I will say that hallucinogens (LSD, psilocin, mescaline etc.) will give one very interesting/patterned ideas, but this carving doesn't show it in any obvious way. Absolutely anything is possible, but I would lean towards this simply being what a very eclectic person thought was a good idea. |
