I think for the internal search, that's just to keep load off the webserver by putting a quota on the the number of DB queries a user can do in a specific period of time.

These are only available when I sign in. Sometimes I may browse, and only sign in when I come across something I want to comment on or contribute to. Does not happen on any other forum that I am a member of. Why only TB ? I'd gladly swap problems Jimmy.

First it's being leniant with a few seconds on talkbass, next thing you know, we're all killing to survive in a postapocalyptic wasteland. It'll be like Thuunderdome, dammit! THUNDERDOME!

That's about the first thing I do on a new computer: Sign on to TB and check the little "keep me signed in" box (or however it reads). Unless you're sharing computer accounts with others - which is a crappy idea from start to finish - I can't see why I should ever not be logged in.

I'm puzzled as to why this problem only exists on TB.

grrrrr! | That was one of the biggest perks when becoming a mod- no search clock (we have to use the search all the time for the job). |

Without some delay, A user with bad or stupid intent could lock the whole thing up with a very simple script. I'm sure there are some other safeguards in the code but best stopped at the front door.
