The most powerful piece of music ever written

For me, this is probably the most powerful piece of music ever written. Watch this performance and the expressions on the conductor Leonard Slatkin's face. Word has it, he walked off the stage and broke down. I wouldn't have made it past a few minutes..

I'm actually playing that song at a concert very soon.

This song was actually used at funerals for important figures in the USSR. Kinda odd, seeing as how it's written by an American.

I guess music transcends geography and political ideology.

John Merrick-The Elephant man

And when it's set to a piece of film such as this, it becomes even more touching to the soul. If this scene doesn't move you, you're dead...

I just played the clip and my father heard it from the next room and said, "Oh, that's adagio for strings" and he came in and listened to it with me. After it was done he just said very quietly, "Beautiful...." and went back to the other room. I couldn't really speak- it was very moving.

It's a beautiful piece, but I'm not feeling too emotional because of it.

That actually brought tears to my eyes, that has never happened to me, ever from a piece of music. Truly a piece of musical art, an piece of one's soul.

Not a very good quality recording, but an amazing composition, every movement of it.
