I saw Pirate Radio (known to our UK friends as The Boat That Rocked) Friday night. I've had a long interest in the story of Radio Caroline and similar endeavors, so I was really eager to see this movie. It's not the story of Radio Caroline (I understand some have criticized it for that), but a work of fiction with some attachments to actual history. It is hilarious, too--I was laughing and grinning pretty much from beginning to end--and filled with very good music.
Bill Nighy was a perfect casting choice to play Quentin, the elegant but gentle snd somewhat spacy owner of the boat / radio station.
Has anyone else seen it? |

The cool vintage broadcast hardware, like the Gates console, kept catching my eye.
My next quest is to find a store that has the soundtrack. |

the one thing that bugged me... on the posters advertising the movie they have a list of band whose music is featured in the film. something like: the rolling stones, the who, jimi hendrix, and cream. i heard no cream.. none... unless it was very quick and i missed it.

However, the design was great and the continuity looked perfect (no kid in jogging shoes with a digital watch, like in Quadrophenia).
As a former longtime broadcaster, I always find movies about them pretty risible or excruciating, though.
