Movie Review. Battle: Los Angeles

I was dissapointed in this movie. I was expecting better special effects. Especially better images of the invasion. Most of the time they were vague or blurred and fast. The movie centers around a group of Marines, particularly a Staff Sgt. and a young Lt. And its this group that makes it's way around, surviving the onslaught from the invaders. Some of it is familiar. Like its been done before. In the end, its a decent movie but Like I said. I was very dissappointed with the special effects and the lack of.

2 stars.

I gave it 3.5 .. I gtook my son to see it for his 14th birthday which was yesterday... It wasn't as bad as Skyline.. It had it's share of "yeah right" moments... but I thought that as far as alien invasion movies went it wasn't too bad...

I did not see Skyline. I did like the characters in Battle. Especially the Staff Sgt.

The wifey and daughter went to a Blake Shelton concert tonight so my son and I had some "guy time". We went to dinner then to see this movie. I was also expecting better effects (he was as well, being 15yrs old) but it was kind of nice to see a Sci-Fi movie with an actual plot and characters with some depth to them. Then of course there's Michelle Rodriguez.........I'd agree with Sav'nBass and give it a 3.5 all things considered.

When you look at how movies like The Host and District 9, with their relatively small budgets, can still have really good, believable effects and interesting, believable characters, it bugs me that the mega-millions blockbusters can't seem to scrounge up either of those qualities much of the time.

well that's what happens when the director has clarity of vision and a game plan vs. just filming a bunch of footage and then praying in editing that they can gain some coherence. I mean, it's called "a visionary stylistic approach"

I have to admit it dragged on, but some bits were good. Also, I liked the robot with the missile cannon instead of his downstairs.
