Movies have never freaked me out before. That is until I saw the Takashi Miike film "Audition". Oh my god. The last 15 minutes of the movie are just... disturbing. In Japan, the don't have a rating system, so they can show whatever the heck they want... and Takashi Miike shows whatever the heck he wants!D: So, what are movies that've freaked you out?

I don't like dogs dying in movies. The mailbox scene was also tough to handle. I'm not exactly sure why it gets to me even thought it is clearly a work of fiction.
Avoid watching Irreversible. |

There was also some low-budget movie I saw on TV a few years ago... supposedly based on a true story... about this really evil ghost/spirit that basically attached itself to this family and followed them around for years. They moved from one house to the next and it kept showing up. It really freaked me out to think something like that could actually happen in real life.

I just about jumped off the couch when the bag in the girl's apartment rolls across the floor, and then the last few scenes... yeah.
I think the only movie in recent memory that's given me nightmares or anything like that was Silent Hill. I guess I just don't get freaked out easily.

My mom still teases me that she would hear me (my bed room was above hers) run-run-run "jump" and BOOM into my bed. I was scared of Pennywise under my bed so i would run and jump into it... Gozu - If you think Audition was bad... this Miike movie is way more heeby-jeeby inducing. Not as disturbing visually as, say 'Visitor Q' or 'Ichi the Killer'... this one has a big cerebral aspect to it. High Tension - A French horror movie. Probably the only newer horror movie that's actually made me feel uncomfortable. (Awesome: Muse's song 'Newborn' is the running theme throughout). Tideland - Seriously, Terry Gilliam is a genious. No movie has ever made me feel as uncomfortable as this movie... ever. Necromantik - A German film in the gore genre. Another really uncomfortable film. Most epic gross ending ever ever ever. Un Cien de Andalou - I know i botched the title. But it's a movie that Salvador Dali helped make. The only reason it qualifies as freakey is the first scene... and anyone who has seen or heard of it knows EXACTLY what i'm talking about. Zombi - Again, saw it when i was younger. I think the realness of the zombies is what freaked me out. Crazy good effects for the time it was made... The Thing - Same as Zombi. Saw it when i was young and the pure realness of the alien/monsters scared me.
Puppets/Animatronics > CGI

I don't know, the vibe of that movie was so comepletely absurd I could only laugh. But it's certainly one of the ODDEST films I have ever seen. The ending was one of those "Wait... What?!?" types. |

I guess the second one would be Broke Back Mountain... LOL
