Moving to Toronto

My wife and I are moving to Toronto at the end of the week and will be living downtown. She is going to school at Ryerson, so we will be relocating for at least 1 year. I'm very much interested in exploring a new music scene and am looking for recommendations regarding bars and clubs with live music. I'm oriented to the 'rock/metal' side of things but can usually find someting to enjoy in nearly any genre. Does anyone know if Tony Springer (Wild T and the Spirit) still has regular house gigs? I loves me some blues.

Pick up a copy (or check the online version) of NOW magazine, it has the listings for every club in the city.

The Horseshoe
Rancho Relaxo
The Opera House
Lee's Palace

If you want to see the best talent in the city, mind you, you want to check out the jazz scene, and its apex is The Rex. Every time I leave that place, I walk out with a blown mind.

Just moved to TO 2 months ago and haven't even had time to explore that stuff, yet. It'd be also great to explore the possibility of starting a band, too.

The Rex definitely is awesome, from what my g/f tells me. I'm planning on going eventually.
