MP3 player with AM/FM?

Sign in to disble this ad
Why aren't these made? I want news and sports for the strength portion of my workout, and I want music for my cardio. I found one on the CCrane website, but that won't do. I'd like at least 4 gigs of memory [not 2], and I want different ways to easily access/program playlists.

http://www.ccrane.com/radios/am-fm-r...c-witness.aspx

That won't do, and that's I can find.

Perhaps I'm overlooking something? Is there a creative solution? A portable/sports XM/Sirrius radio/MP3 player won't work indoors, so that's out. Will I have to buy a separate AM/FM radio and MP3 player? I could strap one on each arm, but switching the headphones back on forth so much will wear out the inputs in a couple months, no?

I feel like Sir Galahad.

I've got a 4GB Creative Zen. Apart from being a great mp3 player and being extremely user-friendly, it has a radio function.
Looks to be what you're after.

Yep for Creative Zen. But it is only FM radio, no AM, just so you know

I recommend my Creative Zen Vision:M to anyone.

I still say it is one of the best mp3 players around and you can get them with sick deals sometimes. It has FM radio only, I am not aware of any mp3 players with AM as well.

The majority of mp3 players on the market have an FM receiver (Creative, Cowon, SanDisk, Zune,iRiver, etc.), however, that CCrane is the first I've seen with an AM receiver.

Before my iPod I used an iriver. Can't remember the model name but it has FM radio and a recording function for it too, pretty handy. Also had small external speakers which was great for sitting outside or whatnot and putting some tunes on.

I have the same complaint. Manufacturers assume no one wants to listen to AM - although I suspect the antenna requirements to pull in an AM signal are a big part of the problem. I have a couple of Sansa devices that include FM tuners, but no AM.

IIRC, the AM antenna required is about the size of a pinky, but not a Jimi Herndrix pinky; more of a Paul McCartney pinky.

Pogo makes a FM/AM/mp3 player/recorder. I owned one and it was really a great unit. My only complaint was the fact that it used 2 "AAA" batteries and would eat them up every day. I eventually switched to rechargables and that helped a lot. I got mine on ebay for pretty cheap.

My $20 "Centon" MP3 player has FM but not AM. From what I can tell, the "Centon" is a knock-off of the "Coby" which is an attempt to copy the trademark of Sony.

I've heard of that one. It was also known as "Radio Your Way". Discontinued.

That's the only I know of with an AM tuner. Ebay is your friend.
