MSc in the States?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I'm thinking about doing my masters in the states after I finish my bachelors. I currently study Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University Delft in the Netherlands and I was thinking uni's along the likes of MIT, CalTech, Berkeley and all that.

Has anybody here got experience getting stuff like a grant/scholarship, housing, applying and all that as a foreign student? Anybody knows if it's retardedly hard to get in one of those schools?

Caltech and MIT are (arguably) the top two engineering schools in the US, and yes, admission is extremely competitive. However there are many other schools where you can get an outstanding education. Carnegie Mellon, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, RPI, WPI, and many others.

I don't know about the application and financial aid process for foreign students, but I got my MS at Carnegie Mellon, and at least 1/3 of my class were from outside the USA, so it can certainly be done. Check the schools' websites, I'm sure they have a FAQ section for foreign applicants.

Good luck!
