Multiple fatalities in flash floods on Madeira

This was obviously a really devastating set of incidents and seems totally out of whack with the normal climate on this island.

I'm really very sad to hear about this. I visited Madeira in 2006 and it is one of the most beautiful places I have yet been to anywhere on this Earth.

You know, I had heard a little news blurb about that but didn't pay much attention to it at the time because it didn't seem like it was serious.
