Mummers strut & Happy New Years!!!

This is a Philadelphia thing I figured I'd post anyway Happy New Years and enjoy the Mummer's Parade . It is oldest & the BEST parade in the country. So sorry for all you others but here are my feelings towards them. They can all go crap in a hat!!! We've been doing it for over a century & do it the best there is no substitute. From the city that brought you FREEDOM, I just wanna say I love ya & again Happy New Years!!!!!!! With all that I have said about other parades your parades pale in comparison. Come and see it for yourself and while I think the Rose Parade is a close 2nd it is just that a close 2nd. No others really compare at all. Maybe even in the world.

Being a Philly native, I'm ticked that WGN isn't carrying the Parade so I can see it. Anybody know of any national broadcast? (As a bit of a side rant, why is the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in NYC nationally broadcast, the Rose Parade in Pasadena is nationally broadcast, but not the Mummers in Philly? It's a long running parade that has a lot of history and tradition! Argh!)

Dang! There's a lot of personal nostalgia in that post.

I was just wondering what the heck ever happened to the Mummers.

I guess since we as a nation have evolved beyond televised parades, it's easy to assume they no longer exist.

I got a Rickenbacker from 8th St. Music back in 1973 for a 14th birthday present...

Try watching it wphl.com channel 17 where all the Phillies games are played.
But here is why we get crapped on all the time :
Because of bullcrap Philadelphians always have to put up w. We are always the underdog don't you get it. We are always forgotten.
They should kiss our asses every day this country is free cause it started here - not in New Yank ( cause they yank it all the time) and not in Pasadena -- u want flowers BIG BOY I have flowers for you. How stupid is the Thanksgiving day parade why cause Macy's sponsors it they've been bankrupt a dozen times they suck PERIOD!!!! New York that city is still a pee hole in the snow. The Rose parade really who cares? Ooooh a float of roses o wait another float of roses o wait here is another wait wait for it o there is another float of roses come on stop the bull5#!+ !!!
