Murphy's Law - fretting finger injury

Sign in to disble this ad
So... I play with a couple of other guys. Three of us are bassists, but play other instruments with varying degrees of skill. Anyway, one of the guys sends out the songs to practice. Two hours later, while washing dishes, my wife's vegetable mandolin guillotines my finger down to near the bone on my fretting hand ring finger.

Needless to say, there's been no practicing this week. The stitches hurt after a minute of playing. Four more days until the stitches come out.

Stay safe while doing dishes!

I feel for ya, mrspiffy. I used to be a sheet metal worker, and had the end of a heavy length of pipe, with flange, roll on me and pinch my right middle finger between the flange and my boot. Went to the hospital, and they bandaged it up. It was right on the inside of the knuckle, so they couldn't stitch it. That happened on a Thursday, and had to play a Friday/Sat/Sun gig. Hurt like the dickens, and I think most of the audience thought I was flipping them the bird. )

If you didn't sever a trunk nerve, suck it up.

In a year, after big surgery following a freak accident and a $3000 piece of collagen tubing put in the finger, I'll have some of the feeling back.

Take care of your hands, people!
