It has been 3 weeks since my fiance and I have been owned by a corgi.
I have a feeling he'll turn out to be a good dog, but he's a little rough around the edges at the moment. He tolerates his kennel pretty well and generally sleeps through the night without incident. He's quite hyper in general.....very hyper..... |

Patience and be sure he knows what the rules are from both of you.....
That mommy/daddy exploit thing is not just the domain of human kids.
Congrats!

Have good times together. Keep him busy with positive activites, remember:

As for the lap dog part, he's still a puppy, and filled with that stupid puppy boundless energy - give him a year or so, I've found that once they start to grow out of puppydom, they mellow a good bit and make EXCELLENT couch potato dogs. They are VERY affectionate with their people and love nothing more than curling up next to you on the couch.

In HS, I ran a 4.5 40, so I was quick (not fast mind you, ran out of gas at 41 yards! ), and I've never met a Corgi that couldn't embarrass me in a game of "catch-me-if-you-can"!

I was starting to feel guilty when the future Mrs. and I watch the DVR'd stuff, although he generally passes out in his crate. Quote:

Although eventually he tires out to a point of being semi-comatose.
Still, I think he'll probably be a pretty good dog overall. Treats motivate him and he seems to like figuring things out. Yesterday, I taught him how to open the door to get in his crate to get treats. |
