My Afghanistan Photos

Sign in to disble this ad
I thought that some people might be interested in seeing some pictures of my "vacations" in Afghanistan. I'm not going to post anything graphic or (too) disturbing. My first trip was Jul07 - Jun08 and my second, and current, deployment was Jan11 - (hopefully)Dec11. Enjoy!

First deployment; Jul07-Jun08, Jalalabad City, Nangharhar Province, Afghanistan.

My room after a 1000lbs Vehicle-Borne IED (VBIED)

Notice the Dean acoustic bass and the Van Halen-esque Ibanez.

Our little pet at one of our Afghan National Police (ANP) station. We called him "Little Paw", I'm pretty sure after we left the ANP cooked and ate him. Poor little fella.

Afghan chai (green tea) is amazing. They put the big coarse grain sugar in it, even on a hot day it's irresistible!

Second deployment; Jan11 - (hopefully)Dec11, Bak District, Khwost Province, Afghanistan.

Who said Police, even the Military kind, like donuts?

Me being goofy, "If we weren't a little crazy, we'd all go insane"

IED #1, 15lbs of Home Made Explosives (HME), no one was hurt and the vehicle still ran but, WOW what an adrenaline rush!!!
**flickr doesn't like this pic, I'll try to add later**

IED #2, 40lbs of Home Made Explosives (HME), no one was seriously hurt, just got our bell rang pretty good!!!

Just hanging out, enjoying the weather while out in a village "pulling security". Pepsi and Reece's Pieces are a delicious snack in the hot sun on a long day!

This is what happens when you don't run fast enough while mortars are falling on your COP (Combat OutPost). Piece of shrapnel decided to embed itself into my forearm. No major damage done but I do have a nice scar.
**again Flickr doesn't like this pic either, I'll try uploading it and posting it later**

Well, that's it, if enough people want more I have plenty more to post.

Thank you for your service! And thansk for sharing the photos! What's your specialty in the service? Had a son over there in Sharana and Andar flying UAV's 01/10-01/11. Some crazy stuff going on over there. I'll have to look at my maps tonight and see what areas you covered.

Thank you. If you ever get to Minnesota I would be happy to let you play any of my basses and/or amps.

Please, the more pics the better; I'd love to be able to see the war from your point of view (remotely, of course ).

Thanks for everything (and I mean that to its fullest extent)!

I don't see why the Army hasn't yet adopted the 8x10 SVT as a combat weapon yet. Simply turn the cab toward the enemy, turn the master to full and just start ape sh*&#ing funk slapping and that should easily keep the enemy at bay.

Oh and, THANK YOU.
