in my driveway monday night/tuesday morning. GPS and book of cd's stolen. i didnt really notice anything was missing until last night while i was at work (i'm a pizza guy, gps and cds are crucial). got up this morning and saw this in the paper

http://www.tauntongazette.com/highli...-car-break-ins

hopefully i can get my things back. the kids were probably bummed when they went through my cds and found such a peculiar musical taste.

it doesn't sound like they were going around smashing windows, but either way i'm lucky my drummer was borrowing our band van for a few days and had it parked down in Connecticut. had they seen the drum cases and amps in the back they may have reconsidered not breaking any glass.

i had my pickup broken into 3 times last summer......the cops always say lock the doors etc.....we just tell 'em what for, then we have to go to the adjuster, body shop, and pay a deductable too......even when the cops catch them, which is rare nothing is done.....juveniles can only be jailed for "violent" crimes and adults know enough to shut up and let the lawyers bargain down these things until charging them is meaningless anyway.....

I doubt it. They weren't stealing things they could keep. They were stealing things they could sell.

With a couple firecrackers those kids could have themselves a hell of a time.

Good luck with getting your stuff back, at least you have a good lead. Someone stole my pedal board from my car (I know, my stupid move leaving it in the car) but they traded the stuff into a guitar center and I had the serials so they managed to track the guy down. I only get a few items back, everything else was lost somewhere in the ether, but yours is more of a big ticket item and they were caught in the act so hopefully they'll still have your stuff. In case they don't find it, if the car was parked at your house you'll probably have to file a claim with home owner's/renter's insurance if you have it in order to get it covered, car insurance usually wont cover stuff if you're at home.

That's the good thing about mass insurance laws, glass is required to be covered 100% so replacement doesn't cost anything.

i'd be much happier with laws that made it clear to smash and grabbers that
some time behind bars was in order

My POS Tercel was broken into a few years ago. $200 insurance deductible for the broken glass & door frame damage - they stole less than $1 in change from the ashtray. What kind of criminal mastermind assumes a rusty cheap car will contain anything worth stealing?

In the words of Vincent Vega (Pulp Fiction) "Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that a##hole doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it.
