my cat passed away Wed

Sign in to disble this ad
My cat Gracie passed Wed. She was almost 8. She had gotten sick and despite everything I tried, she died. Even at the end she found the energy to purr when I held her against me.
I have not told my 11 yr old daughter yet cause she is in Japan, and I did not want to ruin her vacation.
Friday I got another female cat, which I named Gerber Grace. I got her to cushion the blow to my daughter and also cause my other cat Socks seemed out of place and looking for her. sorry pic is sideways, I am mobile and can not figure it out.

I'm sorry to hear. For me that's the only down side to owning a pet.

So sorry, it is painful but think to the joy that Gracie brought to your family. Also, bringing another cat into your home is a very gracious gesture as you "saved" another kitty. I would think Gracie would approve.

Sorry to hear this.

My two cats are both 16. I'll be upset when the time comes for sure.

Sorry to hear about your loss.... losing a pet is always tough. We had to take one of our outdoor cats to the vet one day last fall when he wasn't looking so good anymore. Came to find out the poor guy had a tumor in his stomach, and the medical bills would be in the thousands. We ended up having to put him down that day, and I didn't even get to say goodbye to the little fella. THAT was tough.

But yes, think of the good times and the joy Gracie brought to your home. In the end, that makes it a little better.

I am really very sorry you had to deal with that.
It's SO damn tough to loose a pet. I have no advice about getting another cat to cushion the blow; I know with some folks it helps.

Once again, I dearly hope you hang in there, have a good cry and ALWAYS REMEMBER... you gave 'em the best home you could, provided a loving environment and gave the cat a good life. That's a great deal of good things and very important.

Sorry to hear about you losing your pal. Gotta love cats!

Pets are good for kids, and although it hurts when the pets pass on, it does help kids to learn about the realities of life and death and helps them to deal with other losses as they get older, imo.

thank you to each and everyone of you for your kind words and coindolences. It is hard not seeing Gracie waiting for me at the door when I come home from the club..and waking up to find her sleeping at the foot of my bed. However as everyday passes, things get more easier.

Sorry to hear it Selena...pets are family in our house, and we've lost a couple along the way and it's never easy.
