He's got tachycardia and he had a v-fib (ventricle fibrillation) that caused his heart to beat out of control. They suspect he has a heart virus (myocarditis). Scary stuff. My dad is in ICU. Worried I might lose him. Anyone have any experience with this? He might have a defib implant under the skin to zap his heart when it goes wonky. |

I may be wrong on this but, didn't Dick Chaney get one of those implants? It basically resets the heart's electrical rhythm when it detects irregular heartbeats.

He had a bypass op and that kept him in the clear until 2006 when he had another attack - but he's still going at age 79, albeit a bit slower than he was before.
Who knows what will happen for your dad? You could get another twenty years or more to spend with him, or he could be gone tomorrow. Just enjoy his company while he's here and think of him well when he has to go. Best wishes to you and the rest of his family.

Hope for the best, and hopefully there wasn't too much damage caused.
Best wishes bud.

He might have a defib implant under the skin to zap his heart when it goes wonky. | Pretty much the same thing happened to my dad about 8 years ago, he caught a virus that killed part of his heart, not a heart attack per say but pretty close, he was laid up for quite a while and the doctors where not sure if he was ever going to be able to work again to support us. A year or two later he went in for a check up and his heart was back up to 100%. My mom kept us away from him in the hospital but I guess he was pretty close to dying.
Just goes to show you things can take a surprising U-turn.
My aunt had a stoke last week (a small one) after many tests they determined it was a tumor on her heart that she probably had since childhood as she aged parts of it started to break off a clot up in parts of her body more importantly her brain, she's going in for open heart next tuesday. She's tough, she'll pull through.
My grandfather had a heart condition his entire life after his 3rd heart attack at age 30 the doctors told him he only had 2 years to live, basically told the doctor to go suck an egg and lived 30 more.
hmmm I need to stop eating cheese burgers.
Anyway hope this helped stay strong. |

The science now is a lot better now that it was even in the early 90s, so he's got that going for him. Hang in there, bro.

If you need anything, I'm 10 digits away, bro.
