My declaration of buyer's rights.

Sign in to disble this ad
This goes for TB classifieds and ebay purchases:

In addition to any items being "as described" I feel I have the right for my purchase to be shipped within a reasonable time frame. There are exceptions and emergencies that could potentially delay a shipment but mostly it's case of someone needing to get off their butt. Lately, I have had a number of items with a lag time of 7 days or more (recently one took 11 days) before an attempt was made to ship. I paid instantly, please don't hold my item hostage.

If you have an item for sale you should already have the packaging available or be plannning for it. Boxes big enough to ship a bass guitar in are kinda hard to find. Have a line on one before putting your bass up for auction, etc.

If you cannot travel to a UPS or Postal facility pickup from your home is available. I use "On Call Pickup" frequently. It works.

Related ranting concerning trades.-if I agree to a trade with someone, why should I have to wait until my item gets to the other person before they ship theirs? It happens more than you think.

Ok, I am breathing into my paper bag now!

As a general rule I expect that the seller will be able to ship out within three days. If they can't do that for some reason it should be stated in the sale ad.

As far as TB goes, I think there ought to be some kind of status for an item included in the ad. Maybe something like:

Status-boxed and ready for shipment
Status-boxed but unable to ship because of travel/sickness/etc.
Status-unboxed,not ready for shipment

Heck, anyone got a suggestion?

I'm an inexperienced seller, but I take my feedback very seriously (38...100% on Ebay; 1...100% on TB). I go out of my way to be prompt or at the very least a courteous communicator. Recently I had some take about a week to leave feedback on an ebay auction and he was a first time bidder with 0 feedback. That was worrisome...in the end I got positive feedback and realize that the person had a life outside the internet,...(vacation...etc.). Because he was new to ebay...I chalked it up to a learning experience on both ends.

In addition to that 1 transaction here on TB...there is another transaction that I never recieved feedback on...I guess my prompt payment wasn't appreciated??? or the seller forgot??? Whatever.

My point is that I try to live by the golden rule...treat others as they would treat you. Unfortunately not everyone lives up to those standards.

I posted a recent thread about two ebay transactions I just had with a guy...Beyond the fact that two rack processors arrived poorly packaged and without any power cords, he shipped the units 8 days after I paid by paypal. Now, he obviously didn't need the extra time for the packaging, and certainly it wasn't for him to find power cords...

I gave negative feedback on all accounts and he got really bent out of shape.
