My ex-girlfriend, I really crawled through the eye of the needle here...

Okay, five years ago I had a relationship with a woman who I met through my best friend, we had been introduced to each other through him and we hit it off right away.

But as the months went on I began to lose the feelings I had toward her and in addition to an ever increasing workload had less and less time to spend with her, coupled with a gum disease she had which after kissing her left me with an unpleasant taste in my mouth, made me decide to end the relationship, no hard feelings, we just ran out of gas as far as I was concerned.

A few years later she hooked up with that said friend who introduced us to each other back then. They appeared to be happy with eachother and pretty quickly I got word that he got her pregnant.

Now that friend has been through a very messy divorce before and he and his ex-wife have a daughter. And she has since been the subject of mud-slinging from her mom to get the custody over her and that's slowly eating at my friend.

Imagine my surprise when I got a telephone call from my friend just a few weeks prior to his second child being born that my ex-grilfriend had left him, without a warning, no reason, just left him there and then.

Turns out that she started haning with my friend's ex-wife and the both of them apparently have teamed up on him to get the sole custody over their children.

Now one of the arguments here is that they say that my friend isn't a good father, never makes time free for his children, doesn't take care of them properly and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near them.

Now, I have been around when he still had his marriage working, I have been a taxi driver when I took them and their daughter to a playground. I have seen the love he has for his daughter, how he's willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING for her. When we were in a band together he had a my then girlfriend baby sit her. He went through great lengths to be there for his little girl to be there for her, against enormous odds. I'm pretty sure both his ex-wife and my ex-girlfriend remember this as well.

Now as I was talking to my band mates about this they said that I had been lucky, if I had continued the relationship, she would have pulled this on me. I had been the wise one here and dodged a bullit.

My friend agrees with this logic, I might not be lucky with women but at least when the thing went sour I had the good sense of ending it there and then.

Did you wear protection when you had sex with her?

Yup, she insisted on it. And I went along, knowing that kids for me will be on a later day and age, I wanna enjoy my freedom while I can.

I've seen the baby, she looks like that father of hers.

Custody battles are some of the most vile things in the world. I'm thankful that I never had to go through one as a child.

What is it with people sharing sexual partners among the same group of friends? None of my friends have had sex with my wife, and I haven't had sex with any of my buddies wives. Maybe I'm just weird.

Well after I broke up with her, she dated another guy for a while before she hooked up with that friend of mine because of already knowing him prior.

But I agree on what else had been said on child custody battles, the people who do those don't realise how troubling it is for the child itself.

My buddy's daughter for example attends two schools because of her parents living a large distance from each other, and since I know from experience that kids will always pick on other kids who are different from they, I cannot imagine what her life must be like having four parents (her dad and his girlfriend and her mom and her boyfirend) and attending two schools.

The wellfare of that kid is compromised by the selfish actions of her mom.

+1000

I have seen some stuff go down with divorces and custody battles. A buddy is an attorney and I am familiar with some of his "greatest hits." I was getting so scared that I did not want to have sex at all. Snip, snip, the sex drive back to normal. I had been pushing the odds too long.

Concerning the guy: He needs to change the type of woman he sees. And maybe get a little snip or two. Lots of his money will be going to two women.
