Unhappy My feet stink.

Is there anyway to fix this? I take a shower everyday and make sure to wash them when I do but when I take my shoes off at the end of the day to loaf around my house they emit this... funk. It's not awful but it's there and I want it to go away. Are there more effective ways of cleaning feet?

you know, i had this feeling that was a pic of you smelling your feet in your avatar!

do you wear socks? socks are important. never wear your shoes without socks. once you go without socks, it's all over for those shoes. and use foot powder.

Do you wear dress socks? I found out that Im basically "allergic" to black socks... something about the type of dye that most companies use. Regular athletic socks and im fine but put me in dress socks and by noon itll smell like i havent showered in a month.

It happens man. I would recomend drinking a lot of water s well. I've heard that by doing so it makes sweat and such less potent.

I deal with a room mate that has an incredible body odor- unfortunate, to say the least.

Foot powder does sound like a good idea, so does febreezing my socks and shoes. I just got all new socks a few weeks ago but getting all new shoes would be a problem because I like them colorful and expensive, lol. I always wear socks when I wear my shoes (though not with my slippers or sandals).

The fact that I was actually talking to my Mom on the phone only makes this funnier .

one idea is to rotate two pair of shoes from one day to the next.

option two: i swear i saw some infomercial about this thing that looked like one of those plastic croc slippers, but with plastic cilia-like protrusions (scrubber things). i think you put it in the shower and it suction cups down or something. its like a car wash for your feet! however, the name of this product escapes me...

EDIT: ah, here we go (be warned, theres a pop up video that starts up immediately, and is quite loud):

After a shower, put deodorant on them. It's the same bacterial effect.

In Questions and Answers (JAMA 177:534 [Aug. 19] 1961) treatments for bromhidrosis (smelly feet) were suggested. I have been very successful in treating this annoying condition with daily soakings in a saturated solution of boric and salicylic acids. The acid crystals are combined in equal parts, and 1 heaping tablespoon of this mixture is dissolved in each quart of boiling water. The solution is then cooled until the feet can be immersed in it comfortably.

The feet are soaked for 20 to 30 minutes each evening for approximately 2 weeks, or until all dead skin is separated, and allowed to dry without toweling. The solution can be reheated and used again. As these acids are both deodorants, the odor disappears after the first soaking and may not reappear for as long as 1 year, at which time the treatment can be repeated.

See much more info here: Cure Smelly Feet | Cure for Smelly Shoes and Socks YMMV

IME, it's your shoes that are causing the ongoing stink. Put the shoes in a zip lock and freeze it. Should kill the bacteria that causes the stink. Also, bleach your socks to kill bacteria. Alternate shoes. From what I saw, you may have to get new shoes. If the cushion/insert is removable, get new inserts or try washing old ones with bleach. Smell in shoes means bacteria has set in. Keep using your old shoes will keep your feet smelling badly.

Totally! I wound up figuring out that cycling socks do the trick for me. Thin but theyre super breathable and higher quality... the price sucks but they work.

Wear white socks... wear shoes made of real leather or another material that breathes properly.

It could also be your diet.

I had this problem for a while where my shoes would smell something awful. I also sit with my feet up on my computer chair a lot, so the computer chair started smelling even.

Gold Bond Foot Powder is great for this purpose.

You can try something like Febreeze, but that really only masks the issue temporarily.
