My Friday Morning

Sign in to disble this ad
So I wake up this morning still sick as a dog. (I'm battling bronchitis and don't have a Dr.'s appointment until Wednesday.) After practically coughing my soul up, I walk out to my living room to have a cup of coffee. The sight I saw next nearly made me pass out -

My short scale bass had somehow fallen off its stand and had knocked one of my kitchen chairs over and was laying halfway on the floor and on the chair. I picked up the bass, looked at the neck and instantaneously started sobbing....The neck was now curved upwards and I knew even if I adjusted the truss rod, it was still going to be trouble. Sure enough after adjusting the truss rod as far as it could go, there was still a bend and all of the frets from the 10th fret up are dead.

Well I was pretty devastated about the fact the neck is ruined since my wife got me this bass for my birthday. It's pretty pointless to even replace the neck since it's an SX and I can just get another one for the same price as a neck. Plus I'm now extremely comfortable with my jazz bass so I don't even want another short scale.

So yeah....If any of you guys have a lefty SX you would part with....Let me know... *Sigh*

If one fall hurt the bass that much, it wasn't worth it.

Yeah, Ive had two basses that went from standing upright to hitting a hardwood floor and neither of them had any irreparable structural damage. A tuning head snapped right off of one but that was easily fixed. Other than that it was just scrapes and bruises.

Definitely sucks that it happened though .

Dang man. I had a neck through bass take a similar fall and hit the edge of a coffee table. I thought it would of broke, but I could find no damage on the neck at all. I'm really surprised your bass got hurt that much from one fall. Either way, I'm sorry

I had a Conklin GT take one HELL of a spill at a gig. I accidently yanked it off its stand when my foot snagged the cable. It bounced then fell off the three foot high stage. Surprisingly, there was NO real damage, just a long crack in the clear coat.

That bass is a TANK!!!

Being a Conklin I'm surprised the floor survived
