My heater dont work no mo'!!!!!!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
Woke up yesterday and the heater was just fine. Got home from work and it was very very cold lol.

It is a wall gas furnace, PG&E can't come out until Wed and this will never do.

I believe that it has a spark ignition so that may be the problem, the thermostat clicks on so I think that is OK.

Any clues on where else to look to diagnose?

Dunno what to do on the furnace, but for now I suggest doubling up on snuggies.
Wait a minnit- you're in Modesto? It don't get cold in Cali, man! Drape a couple of cats over you at night(in an emergency you can get the cats snuggies)- good to go.

Mine quit last year, turned out the combustion chamber blower motor impeller came apart. I pulled it out and tried to glue the blades back together without luck. So.... $150.00 for a new motor and all was warm again.

Mine has a control board with a diagnostic LED; the number of flashes corresponds to a fault condition. Armed with that information you can hit the internet, look up the problem and start swapping parts.

Take a look in there!
You might find instructions or a reset button or something.

Pop off the service panel and check the motherboard. Typically they have a flashing red or green light on them somehwere. Close to that flashing light will be a sticker that diagnoses the message indicated by the pattern of the flashing light.

We have a Trane furnace, and this is what ours does at least.

My 19yr old furnace quit working two weeks ago. Utility co guy came out and said the heat exchanger cracked and fan blower bearings were gone. Only had the fireplace to heat half the house, and so we had to wait almost a week by the time the new furnace got installed last friday. $1900 bucks, ouch!

It had issues last year too, the ignitor failed, so I replaced that. Not too bad it lasted a year.

If the gas co. can't get there for a week, try calling a private contractor.
My oil heater died 2 years ago and it was replaced in about 24 hours. Expensive as all get-out, but one does need heat in the Northeast in January.

A couple of quick checks would be to see if your heater has tripped a breaker (it is probably on its own circuit), or if the air intake is blocked.

Why you gotta drag me into your drama? Spooning with Jady is about as appealing as a proposition to put soap up my peehole.

Which you prefer would probably depend on which type of soap you use.

That's actually what I did, hired a private contractor...

I could already hear the fan blower was noisy since thanksgiving.
Heater died sunday night 12/13. Gas co guy came by and condemned it monday afternoon. I get paid mid-week and wanted to pay cash for the heater, so called a couple of contractors to stop by on Wed to bid the job. Friday 12/18 was the earliest anyone could get it done. The fireplace did help, but the rooms needed extra blankets to sleep comfy.
But the new furnace is nice, has that fancy control panel for status and self diagnostics, the old one didn't have that.

There went my StingRay Classic money....

I've touched Jady's belly *shudder*. Soap would win everytime, no matter what type I was using.
