My Internet Arcade Game - Huoli Arcade (2013 version) - Need people to play/test! Hey all, I've returned to talk to you about Huoli Arcade - which is a remake of something that I created in 2011. Last time I posted this game on here, it was a native application that you downloaded and ran on your PC or Mac, and it played a little bit differently. This time, I rewrote the game. Now it's on the web, programmed using today's webpage technology (which is what my career is focused in anyway). I would like people to try it once more, in the new recoded version that I have created specifically for the web. Play here in my developer sandbox: http://www.brooklyncodebits.com/weba...x/huoli-arcade I'd like to ask everyone who plays it what they think of the game, and to tell me how their experience was - what browser you were using (IE, Chrome, etc...), and device (Windows PC/Laptop, Mac, iPhone, iPad, etc...). Not every device/browser will work unfortunately - IE8 and under will not play, and older versions of Android browser have had not so impressive results, and even iPhone/iPad will not have sound. Please though, let me know what your experience was, and even if you found bugs (if they are in fact bugs). |
Wow, 3 hours later and no one wants to try? |
How do you fire? I can move left and right, but I haven't found the button that will fire. Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 Bit Google Chrome Version 23.0.1271.95 m |
Z is the firebutton |

By the way, if you check the title screen, it actually explains how to do everything in game, including a score table. EDIT: Also for PC users, there is a gamepad/joystick option, but it is VERY experimental. Chrome doesn't work well with it, generally. The only working browser with a joystick I've tested so far is the special Mozilla Firefox Nightly Build with the joystick API built in. |
cool game, very retro. i need to post my web game i made for this semester's senior game design project. :) |
Kinda small, no? Firefox 17.0.1 on a 27" iMac - osx 10.7.5. |
It's hard to play on the iPad1. The button to move left and right was difficult to use. Love the game though. -Mike |
played on: Win 7 IE9 Cool game! I dig how the bullet shots are in different time signatures ;) I didn't know the instructions were at the start screen, it kept blinking click to play so first thing I did was click lol |

Please play some more... I want more feedback... JT, what kinda game are you creating? |
Works great in Firefox on my macbook. It would be nice if you included a page with the controls and stuff, or listed them on the page itself to address those of us ADHD people who just want to jump in and play. And that little UFO with the death ray = OMGI'MONMYLASTLIFENOOOOOO!!!!!! :) Peace, Greg |

I totally dig the game, very retro. Takes me right back to the early 80's. -Mike |

Now, my only comment is that the left/right movement seems kind of fast/touchy, but then I'm not much of a gamer, so maybe it's supposed to be that way. |

Fixed buttons are a very bad idea on a mobile device IMO. Gameplay fun is #1 and if it's frustrating..well, Sayonara! |
If I allow scripts to run it works fine on FF 17.0.1 and SRWare Iron (Chrome - the spyware) Win7 ultimate, BTW |
Updated for mobile and tablet! Now instead of fixed buttons (they weren't working out no matter what), you can use the screen to control the player. One finger will move the player to your finger and fire. Two fingers will activate the hook if at 100%. Keep on playing and gimme more feedback please!! :D |
Try again pleeeeease... I also updated the smartrate algorithm. |
