wow! i never thought this would happen. my exams ended with the last year now theres no more college and classes really. i split with my main band too. after all that i decided to study bass very seriously, i focused on a goal which was grade6 rockschool exam! i got the material and started working on it. that inspired me to study/play piano and drums for a while everyday along with 3-4 hours of bass playing.
then later as i posted before i got mugged so i lost my bass and it wrecked my life for a few days but the upcoming gig with another band kept me very busy until monday! since then i have been sleeping like crazy, slept for 17hours yesterday! i just keep watching movies and nothing else. i go out and i come back home and browse the internet. i feel totally lost without any purpose! i feel like i have nothing to do. luckily i have a new bass coming my way, thanks to some very helpful TB'ers here but i dont know it might be another two weeks.
i feel like am gonna go crazy or something. has this ever happened to you? how do you get out of it? how do you find a purpose or an aim? there is nothing else i really wanted to do else than play bass ya know. i go out everyday but then i dont know

You'll have a bass again soon.
Meanwhile, if Music is your purpose, find other ways to further your musicality without having a bass in your hands. Read music, work on sight-singing, read biographies of musicians, go hang out with tabla players and steal their licks....

actually i dont feel like playing any music at all since the bass is gone. i have a keyboard and drums here but i dont touch them because they make me want to play bass which reminds me of the incident and the fact that i have no bass at the moment. so i guess am better off doing other things maybe. am gonna go to the library tomorrow hopefully i'll find a book
oh you guys can recommend me a book! preferable something by a Brit writer because its a Brit library, i can find some American stuff there too but nothing much besides

Hope you're feeling better after the mugging, it'll take time to get over the shock.

(An entertaining read too.)
The Platinum Rainbow by Bob Monaco and James Riordan.

In the spirit of 'forewarned is forearmed', reading either of these books can save one a lot of time, money, and frustration. |

The info in those books I mentioned will help you to achieve a genuine high score: success in the music business.
Games will not. |

Games will not. | When the day comes that Varun has to sign contracts which will affect his career--and life, what do you suppose he'd be better off remembering? The cautionary lessons learned by others he read about in a book or two on the music biz, or the big scores he racked up playing a PC game while waiting to play bass again?
