This was most tequila fueled inspiration combined with being high off of fumes from the lacquer. The top is from a tree the tree service guys cut down. I asked them for a slice and got it.

Base is from a table I found in the trash and took the base off of. I spray painted it with rustoleum black. Stained, sanded, and leveled the table when I was drunk a few weeks ago. I finally got around to finishing it with lacquer. Those fumes sure make you fly.

This also hasn't helped my pneumonia, but neither has going to town painting my basement floor.

...When you get drunk, can I just follow you around with a notepad and take notes?

That looks like a broken foot waiting to happen, and if that wood was seriously green, it will most likely blow apart in a matter of months.

They cleared out a bunch of dead trees in my yard. I asked them to save me some. Its been sitting in my basement next to the furnace for almost a year.

It didn't seem so heavy until after I put the base on. Now its a real back breaker. The base is cast iron.

Shoulda asked them to cut several pieces off. Someone might buy that for a pretty penny.

I've got about 8 of various sizes. I don't know why I asked for them to begin with, but I'm glad I did.

I already started the next one. Its going to have a chess board built in.

That's a pretty good idea. Almost makes me want to go to my grandparent's acreage and try the same thing.

When it dries out it splits. The only ones that haven't, were the tree tops I cut in half. I hammered in some mitre nails to keep them from getting bigger.

The largest tree slice is about 4 feet in diameter from the base of the old apple tree that was growing back there. The rest are from other trees that were sitting in my backyard. Bamboo, unfortunately, killed most of the trees.

Cool! I did something similar years ago, except I just stained it, and then poured something similar to System 3 epoxy on it instead of lacquer.

Good job, GE. I've done my share of alcohol-fueled projects, too. Sometimes they turn out awesome. Sometimes...not so much.

more drunken arts and crafts I see. You should use that table to display your other drunken arts and crafts, like that picture of a shark you drew a while back.

Oh man, I miss the shark that breathes fire. Some girl got it from me though.

I think that as long as I stay away from drawing, my stuff turns out pretty good.

You sir are a very industrious drunk. Well done. Most of my drunken projects are not nearly as pretty.
