I've said for a long time that a perfect vacation for me would be to have some alone time in my own house. Why go somewhere else? All my toys are at home!
It appears that I have finally convinced my wife to take a 5-day trip to Seattle to visit a good friend. She will be taking our 4-year-old daughter along for the trip, too. This means I have the house all to myself from Saturday to Wednesday.
If it really was a perfect vacation, I wouldn't have to go to work, but alas, this is something that can not be avoided.
Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning I'll have my 10-year-old daughter (from my test-wife) with me, which I'm really looking forward to. We rarely get any time for just the two of us to hang out together. She's a great kid and a joy to goof off with. Maybe we'll go out for a fun evening somewhere. I'll also have her with me on Monday evening.
So, I've got some time by myself to burn. On top of playing my bass until my fingers bleed, what else should I do with my time?
Throw me some suggestions. |

Apart from playing bass loudly, I like to play a game of "just how loud are my speakers?" We have no neighbours at the moment either which means I can get away with cranking my 5.1 surround system ALL the way up with some King Tubby, Sigur Rós, Fever Ray, whatever fancies my tickle. ...and I can do that until I go to sleep which is usually about 4 or 5 when I'm alone.
So, yeah, that's my suggestion. Ask yourself what you can't do when the house is full and you'll form the most wonderous list of activites for your holiday at home.
Enjoy!

A) ...has lost her mind.
B) ...is testing you.
C) ...knows you fear her wrath too much to actually do anything stupid.
I'm voting for C
That said, maybe I need to come hang out at your place and drink a six-pack of beer (or three) with you and your guest.
Too bad my "vacation" doesnt start until late-July. |

Eating your dinner right out of the pan or over the sink is ideal. It can also be eaten in front of the television or computer while reading TB.
Music - turn on Frank Zappa (if you're so inclined). Wives & GFs don't really appreciate the finer points of songs like "Titties & Beer" played at higher volumes. |
