My neighbors dogs

Sign in to disble this ad
these belong to the people renting the house next door.

I don't like them. They are out 24/7. I have talked to the owner about their barking, he's done nothing. I've had to call the police a couple times about the barking. They leave a note on the door, but since they have food, water and shelter, they won't do more. I've watched two of them gang up on the third and draw blood.

I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old and I do not like the situation. My dog mostly ignores them, but if we're out he goes into protect mode and stirs them up more. I'm going to contact the landlord about putting up a privacy fence. There are two trees along the fence line that would have to come down, making the cost difficult for me to handle alone.

Whine over.

Toss a cat over there, watch them kill it, mourn it's death and raise a stink and demand their removal. You'll have to sacrifice a cat, but it would be worth the peace and quiet.

They look like American Bulldogs and they need room to run. No exercise makes them grouchy. Keeping three of them in a small yard or kennel is stupid. Box them up and send them to me, they'll fit right in here at my non profit zoo

Get a huge jar of cheap peanut butter and throw glops of it into their yard. That'll shut them up for a while

Dogs bite each other and sometimes draw blood. They are animals. However, you could set up your bass rig and shelter it with an awning, feed it lots of wattage, and point it at their house. Also, maybe set up a PA that is sound activated, every time the dogs barking makes noise above 80db it cranks up and repeats

The people next door can not control his dogs. They leave them outside and treat them badly

Stuff like this pisses me off. Pits get a bad rap because of jerkoff owners like your neighbor. When raised properly, they really are sweet, loving dogs.

So many people think they're just hyper aggressive killing machines when they're not. The meanest, most aggressive dog I've ever met in my life was a Chihuahua, and I've encountered just about every breed there is.

[EDIT] The dog obscured by the tree looks like it could be a Lab...

I sympathize. We had the same problem about a 1-1/2 ago. The neighbors across the back had three barking labs. We were loosing sleep. After several attempts to politely ask them to do something about it I started calling the police. The police told me once they could ticket them for noise. They started putting the dogs in the garage at night, but were still letting them out early before they went to work. They eventually moved.

Unfortunately the dog owners don't think there is anything wrong and they can't be convinced to do anything about it. There are a lot of ideas on this website though.

FL Knifemaker, I'm liking you more and more...

Matrok, the real problem (as you seem to already understand) is the owner.
Honestly, dogs left outside all day are pretty much always badly jonesing for attention and affection. If you want, those three dogs can be functionally *your* dogs just by virtue of a few kind words and gentle conversation (let alone a few treats) every day.
Been there and done it myself.

Hey...I thought of something. How about putting up a couple statues in your yard that look like your avatar, and point them towards the dogs?

Personally, I think that if you can't afford to spend time with your animals to socialize and train them, you should not be allowed to have them. If you keep them in pens or cages, you shouldn't be allowed to have them.

There was a neighbor on our street that had 3 pits that he "kept" in the side yard. The dogs tore the gate apart and took themselves for "walks" around the neighborhood. They chased my cats, the neighbor's cats, and started running after one of the neighbor's kids...a 2-year old little girl. I saw that going down and went inside and got my gun. The little girl's mom had taken her inside, but still. I've got no use for pits as a breed.

I called Animal Control, they said they would need for someone to be physically bitten before they'd come out and pick them up. I told them they were going after my neighbor's 2-year old little girl, and they asked if she'd been bitten. I told them not yet, but only because her mom swooped in and took her inside. They said they couldn't do anything until they actually bit the child...

Have you seen a child that has been bitten by a dog, much less by three pit bulls? The ones that get bit by pits don't generally live! And any pit that bites a kid on my watch WILL die of "lead poisoning", I can guarantee you that!

I was gonna actually suggest this. If you befriend the dogs, they might chill out and sleep at night.

That's BS. I have to deal with animal control all the time. They will come to round up strays. Probably a few hours after you call, but they'll come eventually.
