Found this guy in the road, he had been hit by a car. He is o.k. not broken bones, but he does have head trauma, I am on watch to make sure he doesn't have any seizures. No Collar and no chip, he is mostly doberman. Emergency vet bill was 590$, It came out of the new bass cabinet fund. But oh well.....
I am wondering now if someone will try to find him, his tail has been cut and he seems to be housebroken. He is an estimated 8 months old. I named him Astro, which comes from a Sun Ra song with lyrics "Astro Black and Cosmo Dog"
I want to keep him, but I am not exactly sure what my responsibility is? Do I hunt down is owners? I paid 600$ and will pay more in the next two weeks for followups.
Any advice on how to proceed should I keep him, put up signs, look for signs? |

On the other hand, plug your cable into his butt and see how he sounds............

Try searching there. If you do find the real owner they should reimburse you if they care about the animal.
If not, you have a new family member.
Good luck either way.

It may have cost you some waiting time on your new cabinet, but the payoff is having a friend for life.

His head tilts to one side and half of his face seems to droop a little.
It is sad to me, I know a guy, who had a skateboarding accident. He functions fully, but he has no sense of smell or taste. I'm wondering if astro is in the same spot, aware awake happy but just not altogether right. |

If I were in your situation, I would put up some signs in the area. There may be a family that is really missing their pup. |

Seriously though, good job. I believe we are here to take care of the planet & all the furry critters as well. All my cats are some type of *unwanted/gimpy/homeless* deal too. I think they know what you've done somehow.

thanks for doing what you did, and i'd suggest running an ad for a few days before keeping him
my dog pugsley was run over one time after he and his brother escaped from the house when my little brother opened the door while i was away--i found him curled up in the middle of a muddy alley a few blocks away in the rain and thought he'd been in a fight...he had a tooth broken off and numerous abrasions--it wasn't until i was washing him off that i noticed his spiked collar had a line of spikes ground down to nubs that i realized he'd been hit and dragged on the pavement
fortunately, after a few days, he was fine
he has 9 lives, and i should have named him lucky--he's been run over, poisoned, had his inner ear laid open in a fight, his salivary gland burst from a bite to the jaw...but still the sweetest dog i've ever known--he'll lay on the floor wagging his tail (with his tongue hanging out the side of mouth where his canine is broken off--it's cute) while my son crawls all over him
sometimes i'd kind of rather keep the company of animals than humans

Turns out he was deaf and had pre-existing neurological problems. The owners paid me his vet bill no questions asked. They rescued him 2 months ago from the pound, they turned out to be really good people. Hello UL115 | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
