I personally walk to work or wherever I'm going. I have access to a car, I just choose not to use it.
BTW that looks like a White's Tree Frog for your Avatar |

Just kidding, nice ride. I wish I could afford to get my bike repaired, I worn out the entire drive train (xc cycling). |

And Cyclocross is hardcore. Definitely something I'd like to try at least once. I'm a messenger here in the city, so this is what I used. It's also my weekend cruiser, but I plan on taking it to the Velodrome this year.

Awesome! |

And yes, it's a track bike. The resisting the force of the pedals slows you down and you cannot coast. Which is why you'll see many without a front brake. I was riding brakeless for about a month until yesterday when I switched to a much heavier gear, gotta strengthen my legs up a a tad to be able to stop it in an "Oh I'm screwed!" situation.

Awesome! | Been there. My first *road* bike was a Raleigh Professional track bike, w/Fiamme tubulars, Campy components & a fixed gear- circa 1983.

I work as a messenger and in NYC people don't know how to lock up next to you without being a jerk and banging their chains all against your bike. I don't really care about scratches and nicks, but dents can lead to structural failure... you kinda don't want that at 30mph.
And this bike is RIDICULOUSLY responsive. From what I hear all Cannondale CAAD frames are like this.
And I do some jumping of potholes if I can't swerve around them. I haven't really gotten into the freestyle riding of track bikes that recently became popular. I'm a big rider and I can't afford to crack a frame.
Being a musician and a fan of cycling is a raping on the wallet.
