My New Years Resolution help me decide

Other than dropping a few pounds, smoking less cigatettes, playing my bass and guitar, I want to raise my standards in drinking....My days of Millwakees Best Ice with an Aincient Age double shot chaser are over. I want to roll into 2009 with a little more class. I was thinking something on the rocks enjoyed in moderation. Those are the ones in my price range so thats why I only listed those, ofcourse I am open to suggestions......

Just stay away from the Jack Daniel's and you should be OK.

I've never tried the Crown Royal or Makers Mark (never seen them around here), and it was ages since I last tried Chivas Regal, so I couldn't vote for anything really. I've seen people here recommending Crown though.

Otherwise, if you want to raise your standard you should really try a single malt like the Balvenie Doublewood or Grenmorangie. There's many good blended ones though so why not pick a basic one like Ballantines, Famous Grouse or Grant's, or perhaps an Irish one like Jamesson, Tullamore Dew or Bushmills? The Irish ones are great for Irish coffee too, which isn't the case with scotchs.

I usually drink Jameson, but from your list I'd say JD
