My petition to re-open the recent "Lament" threads

If this is inappropriate please delete it but I'd rather everyone see this instead of just a handful of mods.

I understand that usually parody threads are usually frowned on after a certain point but I think Relic started something really cool with his thread. These threads have really brought out the different experiences that we all have with our racial and social identities but did so in a manner that prompts discussion and not simple hot-blooded argument. I think the reason that they have been so popular isn't simply people going "hurr, I think I'll make a funny thread too!" but because it's a way to express complaints and interesting thoughts we may have and get feedback on how other people can relates. That said, I don't think it's just some digital soapbox either because, as I stated before, legitimate discussions actually come out of these threads.

Additionally, these threads while "creating more work for moderators", have not actually caused many, if any, infractions or people to get banned and unlike 90% of parody threads, have been far from completely pointless. From what I've seen, most of the participants have been respectful. I think, that if anything, these threads are doing much more harm than good in that they, at the very, least help us understand each other a little better.

And so I ask the mods; Could they be reopened? Possibly with the stipulation that any more made after current few will be closed/deleted automatically? Thanks!

Agreed, I'm with Kwesi 100% on this - while these threads do contain a bit of clowning around and such, I really and truly do believe that they are a vehicle in which folks can talk about issues that normally don't go over too well. Thus far they have been great as far as I can see. I would like to ask the mods in a respectful manner, to please reopen them?

But what if someone Asian or Mexican wants to open one tomorrow, or a woman?

Nah, no mutiny. The mods do an awesome job here keeping this forum from getting goofy. Sometimes they need to make judgment calls and such with stuff that may not necessarily be against the rules, but skirt along the edge of what's acceptable. In this case, I think the lament threads while in that "gray area" were actually doing far more good than harm and wish they weren't closed.. I'm just asking nicely Whatever they decide is what they decide.

Here is a refresher in talkbass.com rules

Rule #5: Do not question moderation policies/actions in the forums
If you have a disagreement with a moderator (If your thread gets deleted, if you get a warning, etc.), DO NOT post your complaint publicly on the forums. If you have a problem with a moderator's actions, PM or email the moderator privately. If the moderator's response is unsatisfactory, email the administrators (username: Paul, Chris Fitzgerald, john turner, David Wilson) or use the Contact Us link at the bottom of every page of the site.

We take all complaints seriously, but posting your dissatisfaction publicly will result in a rule violation.

I'll point out, I don't mind the other "Lament" threads - but when laments include socks and yogurt, that's plain stupidity, degrading the signal to noise ratio. If TBOT did more self-policing, it wouldn't be such an issue.
