My sister changed her newborn's real birthdate

Is this even legal?

My sister hates my brother and they don't talk. Her baby was born on his birthday, the 27th, but she has announced it and put the 28th on all paperwork.

She is a nut job.

I'm angry.

I wouldn't. The woman is crazy, but nothing she's done screams incompetent mother as far as the courts would be concerned - especially if the father is going along with it as if it's okay.

To answer the OP's original question, yes it is illegal. It would be deliberately falsifying official documents.

Hospitals will not change a birth date or time, so the birth certificate should indicate the true DOB.
However, the anger within the family is a much larger issue than a childs observed birthday.

You can't "change" a birth date...it's a fact, not a choice. That's like saying you want to change Friday to Thursday.

Maybe your sister is a nut job, but how do you know she wasn't molested by your mother? You may be risking your child if you don't know the truth.

I'm not sure it would work today, but my mother changed her name just by writing a different name on all forms that were given to her as a child.

Now instead of her original last name she is known by the one she 'chose' so you never know. People get lost in our huge bureaucracy.

File a complaint with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). You may be able to sign a sworn affadavit regarding malpractice.

Welllllllllllllllllllllll ... postmodernists would say that "Thursday" and "Friday" are just arbitrary words used to connotate certain days in time sequence. And once you deconstruct those words, you'd find that they don't have any instrinsic meanings.
