My used car classified brings out the "Brain Trust."

I put an old Ford Taurus on craigslist this week. In the ad I entered all the important information and included pictures of all four sides. Highlights of the ad:

Price (Firm) 750.00
Mileage 174,000
Runs good, no oil usage or smoke
Details of minor damage (with photos.)
Information on what repairs it will need, like brakes and CV joints.

I have received a million calls and just about every one of them sounds like this--

"How many miles are on it?"
"Does it run good?"
"Does it use a lot of oil?"
"Is it beat up?"
"It says price is firm, what do you gotta have for it?"

They don't ask about the potential brake or CV joint replacements! I had one caller ask me if I would drive it over and let them check it out.

So how many miles does she have and will you take 400 for it?

I am really interested in the item you have posted but unfortunately I am out of the country at the time. Would it be acceptable for my associate to deliver you a check for 5,000 dollars in order to cover the costs of the item, and I wish to also pay off a 3,000 dollar debt to another associate that you could write a check to. In return, I would like you to deliver the item to a shipping company and you may keep the remainder of the money for your troubles.

Sincerely,

MakiSupaStar (Nigeria)

p.s. Does the item burn oil?

If you haven't already, you should read 'Yes Man', by Danny Wallace. The movie was okay but the book was hilarious. His dealings with these sorts of scams are priceless.
