On my way to Milwaukee

Sign in to disble this ad
Word came down from my manager, I'm flying to Milwaukee on Tuesday. I'll be there from Tuesday afternoon until Friday afternoon. Besides working during the day, I'm going to go to the Bucks game Wednesday night.

I have never been there before. Anything I "must" do while in town? I am not a musician, so I am not interested in the music stores or checking out live bands. Mostly I just want to eat and drink, maybe hit a mall to grab a couple gifts for family.

I also have fun just driving around the town I am in checking out the architecture, history, and neighborhoods. Where is the bad part of town I should stay away from? I'll go there first.

If you ride or have any motorcycle interest at all hit the Harley Museum. Cant help you out much other than that, I'll make the drive for a few music shops up there but being 2hrs south I don't stick around long.

That would be interesting. Creepy, but worth checking out.

My psych professor was talking about how he knew a guy that worked in the chocolate factory with Dahmer. It was weird thinking of someone Jeffrey Dahmer as a real person.

Yeah, that's probably what my evenings will come down to. I wonder if Laverne and Shirley are still kicking it in that apartment with Lenny and Squiggy.

Downtown is pretty much a ghost town at night. I used
to stay at the Raddison, the bar across the street had some
action.

Biggest action in town is to hang with the Golden Boy and
Superduck.

You could work in a beer factory in a whimsical manner, attend a rock concert, and obtain a history lesson.

Here is an example.

I'm not, but my dad and an uncle really are. My uncle has a garage of Harley's and my dad just got done restoring a 1946. I'll have to stop by and check it out and grab some kind of souvenir for them.

If it was summer, it'd be a whole different story. Not a Milwakeean, but Miller Brewery (done the tour, it's pretty neat - free beer afterward); +1 on Leon's Custard, I think there's still the Titanic exhibit at the Milw Public Museum, great bars and eateries in the Historic Third Ward, German Food - Maders downtown is hard to beat, big casino - Potowatomie, for something different (I've never been) there's the Safehouse downtown - kind of a James Bond'ish eaterie/bar, a little pricey but one of my favorite restaurants is Bacchus-Bartolotta - great Wisconsin-theme food and service. OK, I'm brain dead now.

The Milwaukee Zoo is really nice. Even Chicagoans will drive up to visit their zoo.

The other thing is to hit Mader's for dinner, http://www.madersrestaurant.com/
But if you are a veggie then skip this place.

not a good time to see the bucks, unless you're a big fan of whoever they're playing.

my favorite restaurant in milwaukee is pizza man on the corner of oakland and something else and they might have tours of miller park now.
