Today, my physician gave me my drops to start the HCG diet. This diet is based on hormones, in fact, they are the hormones that make a pregnancy test positive. I have seen 2 friends do this diet - the female lost 26 lbs in 30 days, and the male lost 43 in 30 days! The diet consists of eating 500 calories per day and taking the drops. This almost seems too good to be true and I have had friends criticize me for attempting this, but I'm doing it anyways. Has anyone else here tried this? Today at the doctor I was 230.2 lbs. I will check in every weekend with my weight lost and an update on how it is going. Wish me luck!

Best of luck. |

The only scecret to weight loss is to do everything slow and steady, but nobody has the patience or will power. |

I haven't talked to a single person that says it didn't work, and most feel better while doing it.

It was 6 months ago and I haven't gained a pound back. You have to make sure you load properly before the diet starts. It was EASY to stay on the diet and I didn't get overly hungry.
I might do it again soon. I did the daily injections, the drops I hear aren't as effective. |

You still need protein, fats and minerals in your diet, or your body can't function properly. Consider some supplements as well. At the end of the diet, pee on a pregnancy test and see if you are pregnant.

lowsound | Believe me, I wouldn't have done it without the high recommendation of my doctor. The diet consists of no starch, extremely low fat, and very strict guidelines on the fruit. The drops contain extra vitamins and such and I have been prescribed potassium pills.

I might do it again soon. I did the daily injections, the drops I hear aren't as effective. | If you're going to do it again soon, then it's not a successful diet. A diet is something that you maintain steadily, not something to do on again off again. If you did it, and then lost a bunch of weight, but then regained it to the point that you're considering it again, then I would say that it wasn't successful. IMO, 500 calories is not realistically sustainable. Something like a healthy 1000 calories a day, with regular cardio exercise 3-4 times a week is a something that is much more sustainable. Additionally, I wouldn't add hormones to your body unless a doctor recommends it. |

If not Id recommend eating a more stable & healthy diet combined with lots of workout. Your doctor may have gave you an okay, or even recommended the diet to you, but have you looked into the reasons why? Could be he has some stake to gain the more people he gets onto this diet. Doctors are not above greed.

I've been on a consistent healthy eating diet for over a year and still have been bouncing between 230 and 205 lbs. Recently I added frequent cardio to my routine and then I went back up to 230. Doesn't make any sense to me. This is just another thing to try.

Which is why I initially dropped 46 lbs, but once I got down to about 200 I plateaued and have been between there and 230 for about 6 months. I feel better than ever and can safely say I'm in superior shape to most of my average peers (I'm 16).
