Yes, I went all Dave Chappelle show in a thread title.
I actually love my work boots. They are broken in and comfy Had them since 2007, but have only put them through the paces the last year or so.
Anyways.
Leather steel toe boots... Any products you fellow denizens of the low end can encourage me to buy to help with odor? I know there are tons of products, and thats why I need some real world experience to help me with this STANK!!! I HATE IT!!! |

I've used this over the past couple years when my shoes start to really stink from extreme use or bad weather conditions.
Has worked very well for me in the past and I will continue to use it. |

A lot of people I work with use products like the Gold Bond or Baby Powder. There are sprays that you can buy, but make sure you leave the boots open so they can dry out over night.

The powder will be visible depending where you use it, though if you rub it in it'll just fade into the fabric or whatever it's on.
Usually I just use it on the inside of my shoes since for a while my feet were sweating a lot and my shoes were starting to stink, so I figured it would ail both of those things.
I recommend giving it a shot since it is cheap enough, and if you like it, one container will last you quite a while. |

1. Get a second pair, so the same boots aren't moist and warm all the time. You'll get a longer life out of the comfy boots, too.
2. Put them in a odor-proof bag and freeze them. This kills some of the bacteria.
3. Get anti-odor sprays - or just alcohol.
4. Wash your feet and change your socks on lunch break.
5. Change and wash the insoles on regular basis.

Seriously though, saturate the insides with vinegar let it sit for a day and then rinse it out with water and let dry. That in itself will remove the odor although it will leave a faint vinegar odor which will wear off From that point on dust your feet (socks and all) with baking soda before putting on your boots. It's amazing how effective baking soda can be for odor control.

If the interior isn't leather then I say go with the alcohol spray (alcohol will dry the leather out and make it crack). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
