I'd also like to do a hut-to-hut hiking trip in the Alps.

Mountains are cool.
There's a Pico Blvd in LA, and an Orizaba Ave in Long Beach. So ya know, next best thing....

That's awesome! Good for you!

I want to play bass in a band. Just a local yokel band on weekends.

I did it a couple of years ago: recorded 3 of my songs in Studio 2 at Abbey Road. Even had Liverpudlians playing with me so the voices in the headphones had the correct accents for my fantasy.

Anyone can write a book, and in these days of self-publishing, many people do. I have no interest in writing another memoir of tumultuous childhood to an MBA from the University of Phoenix, the kind that litter bookstore shelves across America.

What I want: to write good, smart fiction. Nothing to it but to do it.

Yeah, me too. Get a pilot's licence and fly around in a twin engine Cessna. I took a few lessons years ago, but I couldn't afford to continue. It was truly an amazing experience though. Maybe one day; who knows?

I have two passions in life. Music and flying. The funny thing is most pilots knew they wanted to fly since they were small boys (or girls) and suspect you may be that way too. If you have that passion then by all means try to do it. I had to wait until I was 50 to get my license. My wife and I are both pilots and share our our flying together. It has brought us closer. There are few things more fun in life than a magic carpet at your finger tips. just sayin.

go to europe-Check, check, Check,Check
restore a vehicle to what I could not when I was younger- Check (77 GMC Shortbox fleetside, 500 HP grocery getter for the wife)

Get the musical gear i could only afford to rent when I was a kid- Check
Have 2 healthy kids almost done growing up- Check(younest is 17 now)
Great career that pays me well - Check

Still to do (if I ever have the money):

Buy a warehouse outright and convert it into one kickass recording studio/ affordable jam spaces to rent to local musicians and acts, recording at a pro level at a reasonable cost to above said musicians. Just my way of giving back to the local scene and a way to help out some young guys just starting out

Buy some rifles again and go elk hunting- may happen in the next year

reno my house to what the wife wants-work in progress

Build my own tube amp - work in progress over the last few years , i start back up when i get the urge and buy more components

Just a few been there , done thats, and a few want to do's

You're right, a relative of a friend took me up in a single engine plane (can't remember what it was) when I was 10. I always wanted to become a pilot after that. I'm glad to hear your story; I'm 46, and was starting to think I'd never get a pilot's licence. I've come into a bit of money recently, and it might be just enough for lessons to get a pilot's licence. Man, that would really be something.

It's great to share such a passion with your wife - may you both fly together for many years to come, both on and off the ground.

Cheers,
Mark

What would you like to do, non-music related?
Reality or surreal?

1. Drive a Formula 1 race car around a track, no one else on it of course.

2. Race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a purple VW Turbo Beetle.

3. Bomb the North Korean dictator's personal home from a B-52.

4. Referee an NHL game.

5. Wear a tuxedo into an Indian reservation casino looking like a big-time roller and only gamble $20 at the nickel slots and leave.

6. Invent something so I don't have to work anymore and just live off the patent money.

Good call. I thought I could pull this off outside of Vancouver, BC (not really Alaska, but close) but the river blew out... Rose 6' between 7AM and noon. It was nuts. I did get to see a family of black bears from halfway across the river and a bald eagle take off about 30' in front of me. Both of which were really cool.

Be able to go to the United States. Unfortunately, my visa requests have always been rejected (it's been a long time since the last time I tried, though).
