I'd also like to do a hut-to-hut hiking trip in the Alps.

Mountains are cool.
Not nearly as impressive but over the summer I got to climb mt. Baldy at Philmont Scout Ranch. Its only 12,441 feet but it was still amazing.

One thing I still want to do is grow full on 18th century mutton chops.

Well, ''only'' is a word I wouldn't use there. You don't climb that kind of heights every day

How about touring with Pink Floyd, though that's in the realm of surreal.

I know you said non-music related, but I have a lot of instruments I want to learn:
Piano, Cello, drums, lute, theremin, mandocello, theorbo, 7 string bass viol, hang drum, warr guitar/chapman stick, and I think that just about covers it. Right now I'm taking piano lessons. In addition to bettering my bass and guitar skills.

See Ireland would be another

Get some music of mine in a published and well circulated video game or tv series.

That's all I have off the top of my head.

Strangely enough, I have this idea about retiring from city life (and most human contact) once I can no longer stand the complexities (and all the dumb, gratuitious drama) of modern society, living a bit like a hermit or with a select bunch of other chilled-out people. I think retiring to devote my time to meditate and learn the precepts of buddhism (the healthy ones) would be nice.

I know it shouldn't be music-related but I'd definitely take a bunch of acoustic instruments (a guitar, a sax, an uke, and the like) to play with (and I might get very proficient, given I would have all the time in the world to learn).

Yeah, I know that idea makes me sort of a weirdo, but I'm cool with being that, and a self-imposed quasi-outcast.

I hear ya. We will be retiring to the french countryside. We bought a little farm with a 200 year old stone barn converted to a house. Paradie. But...if grandkids come, we may move back to Canada.

Drive Route 66 end-to-end in a vintage convertible with a big, loud, gas guzzling, environmentally incorrect V-8. And no GPS.

take my son and go to Belgium & Holland...the art museums there are unbelievable, the Reijksmuseum (sp?), the Van Gogh museum, the Royal Museum in Belgium...there are simply too many to lst.

the Beers would be fabulous, Holland has good beer, but Belgium is the so-called Disneyland of beer.

Maybe while I am in Amsterdam, I could sm....well anyway, you get the idea.

you could spend a whole summer there and not see it all.
