Here's your chance to find out. The GMAC Insurance National Drivers Test features 20 questions from actual DMV tests across the nation. See if you're as good as you think – or if you need a little refresher course in Driver's Ed. | New York and New Jersey had the worst averages at 70.5% and 71.5% respectively.
Idaho and Wisconsin had the highest averages at 80.6%.
How would you score? Take it at www.nationaldriverstest.com
I scored a 90%... one question was somewhat unclear, and I misread another. And yes, I learned to drive in New Jersey.

I missed the steady yellow light (which in some places means SPEED UP!!!!) and apparently it is not allowable to go off the pavement to pass another vehicle. These people apparently do not drive trucks. Sometimes it aint a good day unless you've spent a few hours off of the pavement.
Peace,
Greg

A. At or near the same speed as the traffic on the freeway
B. 5 to 10 miles per hour slower than the traffic on the freeway
C. The posted speed limit for traffic on the freeway
The correct answer is A?
Most of the traffic I see is exceeding the posted legal speed limit by at least 10-15mph.
Is GMAC advocating the disregarding of posted speed limits?
I bet you get a speeding ticket going 15 over up the onramp and they jack your rates through the roof. |

| | Registered User | | | | | lol. so do I. better to be safe than legal.
I just know somewhere in the GMAC legal dept is a liability attorney having a conniption that they put that in print thus exposing them to some sort of idiotic lawsuit by some idiot that looses control and says: "GMAC told me to do it!" |

Not that I always drive according to the test.
But the only safe way to merge is to be at LEAST as fast as the traffic on the highway.

GMAC doesn't want you to keep your eyes on the road. Putting a car length between you and the other car is also defensive driving.
You can get a traffic citation for "following too closely" AKA tailgating.
The yellow light one I missed because I didn't read all the answers carefully enough. Even still I consider myself a good driver....Driving since I was 17 and only been in one accident...fender bender a few days after I 1st got my license. FWIW I use mass transit more often than not.
EDIT: +1...how do you expect to get on the highway going faster or slower than everyone around you. 90% of the time I find that one A and C are one and the same. |

I missed the one about normal following distance. I said 10 seconds.
