This museum opens today in downtown DC, about a 10 minute walk from my office.
Is it just me, or is there something kinda sick and wrong about this place?

I dunno, sounds pretty awesome to me. I'd love to go and take a look at it.
I love war museums and tours of closed prisons, sounds like the perfect museum for me.

It may be sick and wrong, it still looks awesome. I'd like to visit it.

And how the heck do these words associate with a "Gaylord Hotels" ad?

LOL! Last week I was watching a really bad midday movie, at the end of the credits it said; "This has been a Gaylord production"

I had a good laugh to myself about that.

Gaylord just built a huge hotel complex in Prince Georges County Maryland, right on the Potomac at the bottom of the Capital Beltway. That's likely it.

As for the Crime & Punishment Museum, I dunno..I've lived in DC 20 years now and have never visited the Holocaust Museum. I should at least see that first.

Interesting. I guess the whole CSI/NCIS/Law & Order craze has spawned a museum.

I can't stand any of those shows, but I'm still very interested in crime and punishment.
The shows are just crappy overrated trash IMO.

It might be cool but I don't know. I was kinda burned on museums by the spy museum in DC. I shelled out a lot of $$$ for my g/f and I to check that place out and if full on sucked. I hadn't heard of this one though. Maybe I'll give it a go after the new wears off and there aren't eight billion people waiting to get in every moment of the day.

I feel the same. I haven't ever watched one of those shows. But I did watch NYPD Blue religiously.

A few years ago, I helped build a house for a guy who worked for the FBI as a fornesic specialist. He would tell us stories everyday about his job, and cases he worked on. I could sit and listen to him for hours, but I had to work. I was sad when we wrapped up our portion of the project.

Yes. Paying for a museum in DC is sick and wrong. Bypass, go straight to Smithsonian museums.

I used to know a guy who was a spy in WW2 and went deep inside enemy territory. Some of the stories he told were amazing, I could sit and listen for days. Said a couple of his buddies got medals of honor but he never got one. He was a Brit but lives down here in Australia now. Very nice guy, sad that we're not in touch anymore.

We went to DC back in 2003. I was prepared to cough up all kinds of cash to get in those museums. I could not believe they were free. That has to be one of the best deals in the country. They could easily charge $10-15 a head for each museum.

Who pays to keep them open? Is there some kind of hotel or rental car tax?

The Smithsonian has a financial endowment, and receives federal taxpayer funds.

I'm always stunned to go to museums in other cities and have to pull a wallet. One gets used to free....
