NCAA Bowls

It doesn't make sense to talk about the bowls in a thread titled "NCAA Week 15"!

first bowls are on the 20th. the poinsettia bowl and cotton bowl are, imo, the most interesting non-bcs bowls. (and, well, the only bcs bowl that i'm really interested in is the championship. the rose and fiesta bowls, i'll watch, but will hardly be at the edge of my seat.)

i think i want ohio state to win the fiesta. poor guys must have a complex by now. also, don't want anyone stealing any thunder from the gators. (got that, 2005-2006 george mason basketball team!!??!! )

i also suppose that the better usc does against penn state, the more pressure will be placed on the pac-10 commissioner to request a playoff.

utah's a legitimate football team, but only one team has beaten alabama. that team was florida. utah is not florida. (urban meyer can tell you that! hehehe.)

i also want cincinnati to win the orange bowl because vt going 0-4 in bcs bowls is just too funny. plus, i like big east teams, and they tend to do well in bowls. (unless you're usf playing oregon last year. that was ugly.)


it'll be great seeing how ole miss does against texas tech.

Enjoy UF while you can. Our OC just took the MSU head coach job, our DC is very likely for the UCF HC job. Tebow has been predicted for a high first round pick by a few notable writers who said that several NFL OCs are really liking him. Tebow loves Mullen (our OC) so his leaving might influence him even more.

Yeah, and this is causing a bit of a stink for Urban. It seems Whittingham doesn't understand protocol for this type of stuff and put his foot in his mouth when he mentioned calling Urban. There's a big unwritten rule regarding etiquette which specifies that a coach does not speak with other non-conference coaches regarding strategies to help defeat a rival. Whittingham should have known this, but I guess his relative inexperience at this sort of thing got the best of him. Now Urban will be hounded by the media over whether or not Whittingham called him, and how much strategy they actually discussed regarding the Tide.

Whittingham is already backpedaling a bit saying that they talk all the time anyway, which may very well be true. Still, it would be a huge black eye for Urban for it to be released that he gave actual game planning advice to Utah. You know he's going to say he didn't do it, but whether or not anyone believes him is a different story.

Of course, if Urban is really honest with Whittingham, the only thing he can really tell him is to "talk Tebow into transferring to Utah before the game, and convince the NCAA to let him play. Otherwise, we wouldn't have beaten them either!"

I wouldn't worry about that too much myself. Much more devastating IMO will be Tebow's departure. Who do you guys have in waiting for QB anyway?

John Brantley. He broke the FL state high school records that Tebow broke. He's much more of a Spurrier-esque QB. Very much pass oriented.

Oh, you know....the "next great HS QB in the country". An ESPN top 10 blue chipper. I'm sure y'all got a handful of them on their way to Bama too. The guys who are going to set the college football world on fire since they dominated their HS games.

Not only is Mullen a good OC, I think he helps draw players to the school. We'll see how it turns out. Florida is still a destination school, but we may lose a guy here of there with him gone.

As soon as UCF fires their head coach, Strong, UF's defensive coordinator will be gone too.

Tebow was very close to Mullen. That could have a big influence on him deciding to stay for a 4th year... Despite what you think about Tebow's pro aspirations, NFL offensive coordinators are liking him quite a bit. A writer for sports illustrated who is in contact with offensive coordinators predicts Tebow would go towards the front end of the first round.

Any kid who has ability and smarts and a competitve spirit will be sought after in the NFL. I think Tebow will do fine, if nothing else he could be a red zone QB. But watching him throw he's got potential to be good at that as well.

Jacksonville is up there too. He'd be a hometown hero. Ticket sales would skyrocket...

I hate to have to do this to a fellow Tide fan, but you know Kirby Smart called Will Muschamp before the SEC Championship game and got all kinds of tips on stopping the gators... it was all over the news. Even Kevin Steele commented on it.
The Alabama coaching staff must have been unaware of this "unwritten rule" also...

Strong has also been mentioned for the Auburn job. That would be pretty crazy.
