South Carolina this weekend. I may actually try to watch this one. I've been so busy with moving and settling into our new home that I really lost touch with college football this season. Of course, the terrible season from the Gators has nothing to do with that.

I'm turning into an Ivy League guy too, a Dartmouth fan. Usually I don't mind sticking out of the crowd and cheering for my team despite where I live, but I really just want to fit in here and cheer for the local college team. Besides, there are no SEC fans up here so it's pointless to be flying UF colors since no one really cares. At least back in Washington, I knew a bunch of other SEC fans so we could go back and forth.

The Penn State story has crushed me, and strikes very close to home. Too close to home. I'm not saying anything more publicly about it.

Ive League ball is cool, in any sport really. In a lot of ways, I think it's as interesting to watch these schools battle it out as it is to watch anything else. Nothing to be ashamed of there. Speaking of Dartmouth, have you seen Conan Obrien's commencement speech on Youtube? It's REALLY good and worth the full 24 minutes when you have time...

Don't want to know, but sounds terrible thus far and shocking to say the least. I hope as much of this as possible turns out to be untrue, and that every bit of it that is true is exposed and justice is served. I'm saying prayers for anyone affected in this in any way. There's an extra hot place in hell for some...

It sure is. I went to the mens hockey game this past Saturday against Princeton. About 3500 people in attendance, but it felt like twice that. Next up for us is a womens hockey game.

The ESPN documentary "Roll Tide/War Eagle" airs tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern. By all accounts, it's a fantastic look into the countries most intense and bitter rivalry. For folks who aren't from here and just don't get it, or might not understand why so many call it the most intense, this should help you understand why. From what I've heard from those who were at the private screenings last week, it will be worth anyone's time.

Hell has frozen over - I'm rooting for Texas this week:

Missouri DT has sharp words for Texas - Big 12 Blog - ESPN

Aside from that I'm going to be out of town and won't be watching any NCAA football this weekend.

The Roll Tide/War Eagle documentary didn't even begin to capture anything about this rivalry. I thought it was very disappointing and poorly done all across the board. It seemed to focus on the Finebaum Show more than it did on the rivalry itself. Now that I think about it, I don't think you could capture what it's like at all without living in it for at least a decade or two. Oh well, thanks but no thanks ESPN.

Agreed entirely. I was very disappointed as I heard as well that it was well done. Also, Harvey Updyke? Really. Lastly, Charles Barkley is a moron.

Cool Mike. My dad played football at Yale and I've been to many Ivy League events in all sorts of sports. It's lots of fun.

They spent way too much time on Updyke. I suppose for the rest of the country, the bitterness in the rivalry is culminated in his actions. Finebaum seems to like playing off this since it so heavily involves his talk show, but really, there's so much more that could be said about the rivalry over years without ever even bringing his name up. I also don't know why they spent time on the tornado at all.

They should have given much more time to the pre-60's Bama teams, which really established Bama as the state's dominant force, then go in depth with Jordan and how he leveled the playing field, then more on Bear Bryant. Over the last decade or two, they could have gone in depth over many of the allegations for both teams, including the Dye, Dubose, Bowden, Stallings, etc, etc. There would have been a lot of ugly things displayed for everyone to see, but it would have at least given them an opportunity to really explain why things are the way they are. Updyke is just one idiot that is who is because of the rivalry. He doesn't define it or anything else.

Horrible, horrible attempt at a documentary IMO. I want those 60 minutes of my life back.

By the way, Stanky, did you catch Bo Jackson saying "the University of Auburn" right at the beginning? He's gonna catch some grief for that.
