On prediction that no one can dispute:
Next week will be an epic week for USC, their fanbase will be the largest in school history. | ND certainly deserves to be #1.
It is going to be interesting to see what happens with USC. Do they pull themselves together and give ND everything can handle, or do they just roll over now that they know they can't get to the PAC 12 championship?
I am hoping for a good game.
After watching a couple of PAC 12 games on Saturday I agree with what you said about Oregon's defense, Toaster. In general, the only team in the PAC that plays quality defense seems to be Stanford. The USC/UCLA game seemed to be a joke as far as defense goes. The receivers were wide open almost every play. Now I know those teams have some quality receivers, but there were receivers W I D E open every play. |

After Kiffin weaseled his way out of Knoxville after a mere 11 months, I'm sure the administration was completely unprepared, the talent cupboard was probably pretty bare after all the turmoil (and Kiffin and his staff possibly siphoning players to LA illegally), so coaches weren't beating down their door, and they wanted to bring in a "good guy".
I almost feel sorry for UT. But they had no business hiring Kiffin in the first place. That goes double for USC. Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas.

Tennessee faces some financial issues as it chooses its new coach. The university's athletic department posted a $3.98 million budget deficit for the 2011-12 fiscal year in part because of buyouts it was paying to Fulmer, former athletic director Mike Hamilton, former men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl and former baseball coach Todd Raleigh.
The football program is on probation until August 2015. The NCAA handed Tennessee a two-year extension of its probation Friday after ruling former assistant Willie Mack Garza provided impermissible travel and lodging for an unofficial visit by former prospect Lache Seastrunk, who eventually signed with Oregon and has since transferred to Baylor. Garza worked as an assistant on Kiffin's staff.

And Baylor beating K-State.. wow! I don't think too many prognosticators got that one.
Both Notre Dame and Alabama are in a similar situation: They are facing long-time rivals that have had disappointing seasons, and for Auburn and USC, a win over an old arch-rival would make the off-season a bit easier to live with. Unfortunately for Auburn, Arab-Israeli peace is a greater possibility than a win over Alabama. A USC upset of Notre Dame, on the other hand, is more within the realm of possibility. On paper, the Irish should hand USC a decisive defeat. But from what we've seen from ND this season, plus the history of the rivalry, this game is not in the bag by any stretch of the imagination. Stocking up on beer and snacks, and GO IRISH!

Stocking up on beer and snacks, and GO IRISH! | I actually called Baylor over K State. This was not because I thought Baylor was the better team, but instead because K State is just not used to being ranked near the top let alone number one. How often do we see teams look dominant, get to the number one spot, and promptly lose. This happens to really good teams, and I don't mean any disrespect to K State, but come on nobody including their players thought they would be this good. Players don't go to K State expecting to win a National Championship because they have never won one. Sure the players dream "what if" but that is part of the problem because those guys hit 1 and for them they already won the NCG. It is just human nature. |

| | Registered User | | | | I love, love, love Les Miles. If you haven't seen this yet, you should check it out. There was an article about Russell Shepard not living up to all that was expected of him coming into college. The article essentially calls him a bust and says some really harsh things about a young college kid who is just doing his best against some of the stiffest competition out there. Someone brought this up with Miles, who like father protecting his children, gets really emotional about it. This is why LSU is so good year-in and year-out, and always will be as long as he is there. He loves his players and they play their best for him.
Warning: Les drops the F bomb at one point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=LRXP5Bf8KFs |

| | Registered User | | | | What you guys think? Just keep it in this thread the rest of the season?
It's Iron Bowl Week. The opening line was Bama by 34 pts. Just hard to believe that. Sadly, I'm more looking forward to other games this week.
FSU-Florida - it's tough picturing a Florida win this week with the QB out, but I hope they can pull it off.
Also looking forward to USC-Notre Dame. I'm pulling for the Irish at this point so we can hopefully face them in the NC game. Danny Sheridan said last night that every SEC team in the top 10 would be a 10 point favorite over ND if they were playing this weekend.
Oregon St - Oregon. Go Ducks. I don't want your season to be totally ruined but I'm thankful for the second chance.
I hope Spurrier can knock off Clemson.
I love rivalry weekend! |
