He was so humble, overwhelmed, and gracious to have received it. You can feel the weight of the award in his speech. It's emotional just watching him accept it, even over guys like Tebow, much less the conceited and thankless winners like Cam. With Manziel's speech tonight, it almost felt like it was no big deal to him. Not conceited, but not humbled by it either. Oh well. No two people are alike. |

I still think it should have gone to Te'o. Without him ND would not be going to the NCG. Having a shot at the big one means a whole lot more to me than stats. |

I'm still pissed about '08 when Tebow got the most first place votes, but the Big 12 homers who voted him third behind Bradford and McCoy kept him from winning. Quote:

T'eo is a great player and a great kid (with a very compelling story), but I'm not totally sure he was the best defensive player in the country.

Eublet is, in my eyes, becoming less and less of a football fan and more and more a University of Alabama football fan. It's probably always been that way, but it seems more obvious to me in the last year.

-Mike | Really? Wow. I feel less like a homer every year still. Bama will always be number one though. |

-Mike | None taken. Just doesn't feel that way to me, I think maybe because of the way I know I used to feel 20 years ago, getting ticked whenever someone said something negative about Bama, or hating everyone on our schedule. Maybe all this winning the last few years is just getting to me. |

| He's not even close to the best defensive player in the country IMO. Even his stats don't stand out. I was looking at some of the SEC stats for linebacker and there are several players who have more tackles, solos, tackles for loss, etc. I'm not dogging T'eo at all because I've watched him play, and he's a FANTASTIC player, but I honestly don't know where the Heisman thing came from. It's like someone weeks ago started talking about it, and then other people just grab it and run with it. There have been many defensive players over the last 10 years who deserved it more than T'eo, and IMHO it would have been an insult to give it to T'eo when those others were overlooked. It would be even more insulting to Manziel whose numbers are honestly just freakish on paper. |

And in fairness, other schools do it too. But in the state of Alabama, for Auburn to have something, much less two of something that Alabama does not have just ate the Bama nation up inside.
Now on the other side of that coin, the Auburn nation is really jealous that we don't have a player's mom with man made cantaloupes comparable to AJ's mom's. | I don't know AJ's mom, but I know one of the other girls in those pictures that have been all over the internet.
Hey, did you or anyone else watch the 30 for 30 show on Bo Jackson this week? Such an incredible story on a remarkable athlete. I'm still mad that he didn't come to Bama. The Alabama assistant who told him he might not get to play for at least a couple of years in Tuscaloosa should have been fired on the spot! |

i hesitate to use the word "tragedy", since so many things happen in this world that are real tragedies,BUT....it is a crying shame that he, of all people, should have been injured like he was.
i bet if he hadn't been, we'd still be talking about all the records he set.
