NCD: National Cleavage Day

Sign in to disble this ad
NCD is also:

National Church Development
Negotiable Certificate of Deposit
National Council on Disability
Natural Cellular Defense
Normalized Compression Distance
No Claim Discount
National Coverage Determination

and more: NCD - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now I see a thread started with NOAD but at least it has a definition: new-old-amps-day. All I gotta do now is memorize it.

Please, how about a FAQ listing & defining Talkbass's standard acronyms or whatever-they-are-called so that retards like me don't feel anymore stupid than we have to. Thank you.

One of the most common would likely be:

TOF = Threshold of Farting. Refering to speakers farting out when they can't handle anymore bass/power.

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly

YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary

Somebody else can add to the list here.

A dictionary of talkbass- jargon isn't a bad idea, although it probably doesn't belong in the amps section.

One of the most common is of course NBD- new bass day,
Then there's GAS- gear acquisition syndrome, and a lot of others I can't remember.

Yeah, I know, but if it's THE DAY!

Even TubeNet (the tuba player's forum -- I triple on DB, EB & tuba) lets us post tasteful pix of "bier fräulein" on the appropriate occasion. For example:

Awesome! Thanks! Yeah, it needs updating but at least it's something. How do we update it? I can already see it's missing NCD, NAD and NOAD.

NAD was particularly disturbing. NAD is (was?) a hifi components manufacturer -- I actually have one of their rackmountable preamps. The first time I saw it at Talkbass, I thought NAD had done a Yamaha and entered the musical instrument (notice that I didn't type MI) business.
