Hopefully one of you can tell me how fix an issue?

I'm running several machines on a home network. ALMOST everything is working just great.

But recently accessing files, for read or write, has become painfully slow. This is while using the File Manager. I sit and watch the "bar" in the address line color in for an eternity.

Any ideas what setting is killing me?

THANKS
.Hal

Here are some possibilities. The first is that either Windows or your anti-virus software are busy downloading updates. Another is that one of the computers has insufficient RAM. A third possibility is a virus.

Indexation is a must with w7, especially on big disks.
Index info must be shared on networks or other computers can't access it.

Make sure all network connections are full duplex, not half duplex. Sometimes an indicator light on the switch or router will show the duplexing state.

How do I make sure that the index info is properly shared?

THANKS

How are the machines connected? Wireless, wired?
