Need help hooking up a dvd player

I have

-a JVC Microcomponent ux-gp7v system (a stereo system that can also play dvds )

-a new Samsung Led tv.

The JVC system has a 'component' video out, red-blue-green, and a Scart connection. No red-white audio out.

The tv has various connections; the red-blue-green component, scart, various hdmi connections, pc, ...

When I connect the JVC with the tv using the component connection, and I select the component connection as 'source', it says 'no source found'.

Now the component connection on the tv consists of red-blue-green plug ins, AND a red and white audio in. They are fused together, and end in a dual plug that should be inserted in the tv.

Like I said, I've tried connecting the JVC video component out to the tv component connection, but when I do this, there is nothing connected to the red and white audio in because I have nothing to connect it to. There is no audio out on the stereo.

My guess is the tv says there is no signal because it recieves nothing from the audio in.

Is there a way to fooling the tv into the idea that it's recieving a signal from the audio?

Or should I get the scart connector?

sigh...

Get the scart connection. The audio jacks on the TV have no influence on whether the TV recognizes or not, the component inputs.

It's kind of obvious, but do you have both devices on when you try to use the component imput?

Better yet, get an upconverting DVD player with an HDMI connection.

That JVC unit must be from Europe originally - SCART has never been popular in the US.

From Wikipedia: "Designed to carry analog standard-definition content, SCART is becoming obsolete with the introduction of new digital standards such as HDMI, which can carry high-definition content and multichannel audio."

I'd probably search for a SCART adapter to break out the audio and video - and I doubt you will get HD out of it. You'd be better off to buy a blu-ray capable upconverting DVD player - even Wally World carries decent ones for under $100.

Example...SCART to stereo audio adapter: http://www.redcorp.com/PHILIPS/AV-Ac.../43706077.aspx but you have to order through jolly old England.
