I feel that I'm missing something here. Who is Neil and what's wrong in his life?

I presume he works here:

No. Neil is having difficulty swallowing. Once he can no longer swallow, he will not take assistance and will die.

So, no, this is not about the National Missile Defence program. It's about losing a family member and the father os a one year old at Christmas.

Thanks for the tasteless humor. We're all laughing.

I was genuinely puzzled. In your OP you mentioned the NMD ,instead of MND, and north yorkshire is the location of the Flyingsdale Early Warning system.

My prayers for Neil, Louise, and Oscar.

What a beautiful family! What a handsome young man with such a beautiful smile! What a witty, engaging writer!!!

It isn't fair. It just isn't fair. I've only just read him, and I'm already a fan, and it isn't fair that someone with a mind and spirit like this should be stricken with something like this.
